THE ITINERARY

Dar 1.jpg

day 1- arrive in dar es salaam, tanzania

You will arrive at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in beautiful Dar es Salaam, Tanzania!

Our arranged transportation will then take you to our villa. Upon arrival at “Casa de URBN TRVL”, one of the URBN TRVL hosts will greet you and show you to your room.

After you get settled in, we will have introductions and a brief welcome; for those not jet-lagged, we will go out to enjoy our first night of vacation!!

Safari 1.jpg

day 2- SAFARI + OVERNIGHT AT NATIONAL PARK

Get up bright and early to leave Dar and head to one of Tanzania’s popular national parks. This will be an overnight trip since the park is a 4-6 hours away from Dar (depending on traffic) and we need time to spot all of the animals during our safari.

Elephants galore, lions, giraffes, huge herds of buffalo, zebras, impalas, wildebeest, birds, crocodiles, and monkeys are some of the animals we will see in their natural habitats.

After a long day of travel and safari, we will retire to our accommodations where we will eat and enjoy a bonfire. A once in a [wild]-lifetime experience for sure!!

Zanzibar 1.jpg

day 3- CHANGE LOCATIONS; DAR TO ZANZIBAR!

Depart from the national park in arranged transportation and ride back to Dar Es Salaam.

Hop on a 2hr ferry ride from Dar to arrive at Spice Island aka Zanzibar!

We will be transported to our villas for the rest of the week. Once settled we will chill at the house and keep the good times rolling!

Stone Town 1.jpg

DAY 4- EXPLORE STONETOWN + SPICE PLANTATION

Wake up ready to explore Zanzibar and its historical and lively trading town; Stone Town! We’ll take a walking tour of the vibrant town composed of Arabic, African, Indian, and European cultural influences.

Our journey will take us past sights such as Darajani Bazaar, the House of Wonders (Beit-el-Ajaib), and the Old Fort (Ngome Kongwe). We will visit the Anglican Cathedral built on the site of the Old Slave Market and the Sultan’s Palace (Beit al-Sahel), also known as the People's Palace and today a museum.

No visit to Zanzibar would be complete without a visit to a spice plantation to dazzle the senses; there’s a reason Zanzibar is also known as Spice Island! Fresh pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and many others will fascinate your taste buds as we walk thru the farm, learning the medicinal properties of these spices.

Nakupenda Beach 1.jpg

DAY 5- NAKUPENDA BEACH + PRISON ISLAND

Start the morning at Serena Hotel for the “best lattes in town“. Next stop is the beautiful Nakupenda Beach to swim, relax and enjoy the breathtaking beach. We will then hop a boat back to Zanzibar and go to a different dock for a quick trip to Prison Island!

We will walk by the historic old dispensary, which is a cultural center near the dock for the ferry. See giant land tortoises in Prison Island, aka Changuu Island, with time to swim, snorkel, and sunbathe if desired.

Just a 30-minute boat ride from Stone Town, Prison Island has a beautiful beach, clean water, and fascinating history.

Day 6-  THANKSGIVING DAY

We will celebrate Thanksgiving Day in the true spirit of the holiday!! We will relax in the house, enjoy the pool, and each other’s company as our private chef prepares Thanksgiving Dinner.

We will eat our delicious food and jubilate as the spirits will be flowing. After dinner, the tentative plan is to have a party at the house and dance off some of those calories from the Thanksgiving Feast!

Dhows 1.jpg

Day 7- SAFARI BLUE ADVENTURE

Traditional hand-built wooden dhows (aka boats) will take us on an adventurous excursion to explore the Menai Bay Conservation Area.

Enjoy guided snorkeling (equipment included), swimming in a crystal clear lagoon, a delicious seafood lunch and massive tropical fruit tasting.

Day 8- FREE DAY / SOUVENIR SHOPPING

Today is YOUR day. We suggest using the day to buy souvenirs for friends / family or just relax and soak up the Tanzanian sun-rays as much as you can.
